Corridors for Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Energy & Communications Infrastructure Workshop

The Standing Committee on Resource Conservation and Recovery (AMS20) and Standing Committee on Utilities (AKD60) would like to invite you to participate in Corridors for Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Energy and Communications Infrastructure, a joint workshop to be convened at the forthcoming 2023 TRB Annual Meeting.

The session, which will take place Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 1:30–4:30 pm, will feature presentations and discussions focused on addressing the unique challenges that integrating new electricity transmission along and within highway rights-of-way will likely pose. Transportation agencies are increasingly exploring possibilities for such infrastructure in order to accommodate future electric, connected, and autonomous technology needs.

Given the importance of this topic and breadth of fields and interests to which it relates, we expect the workshop will bring together a diverse and interdisciplinary group of experts. We also believe this workshop will embody “Rejuvenation Out of Disruption: Envisioning a Transportation System for a Dynamic Future,” the spotlight theme of the Annual Meeting.

Accordingly, AMS20 hopes that you or some of your committee members will be able to attend and participate in the workshop. Please feel free to share this announcement with your respective committees to encourage membership participation.

We look forward to seeing you in January.

David L. Wilson, Chair AMS20

Roy E. Sturgill, Jr., Ph.D., P.E., Chair AKD60
